Hi Jon,

With the release of this standalone service, is the plan for Invision PERSCOM to still go open-sourced?

Hi Oscar, we have no decided yet. Still trying to work through several issues that arose when we started down that path.

We would like to signup for the beta. Haven't received the email yet after signup.

By the way, this is something that we have been waiting for a very long time. So first let me say congrats on this release I know it was a big lift!

I saw your signup come through. Let me check in on the email and I'll get back to you!

Thanks! Got it.. looks great!

I have something I am looking to solve for and I hope this might be able to do it.

Currently, we track two types of "XP". One for community activity, basically messages and time spent in Discord voice channels. And we have another XP for "Milsim" XP. This is earned by attending milsim events, such deployments, events etc.

Currently, the activity points are tracked by a bot and the milsim points are added manually into a google spreadsheet. We reset the points in Discord and update the spreadsheet manually.

Any chance something like this is road mapped with PERSCOM? I know IPB perscom has promotion points, which doesn't fully cover the need.

I could meet with you and discuss this further and a possible solution I see for it.. I almost went as far as building something but quickly realized this would require a big lift for something that is a bit edgy on the use case.

Absolutely - I can for sure seem some time of point system to assign users based on events/merit/achievements. This is not immediately in the development pipeline as we have several more things to work on. Thanks again for pointing these things out.

Not at this time. We are currently still supporting Invision. We have an update submitted and waiting for approval. In the future, we suggest not updating your Invision core software until your applications support the new version to avoid errors/issues. These are the most common support tickets we deal with. Thanks!

Hi Jon,

I have looked into PERSCOM in the past but decided not to purchase it due to in my opinion the high prices with invision, However I have a few questions about the new standalone.

I have looked at different communities using this on invision and noticed they are able to create multiple rosters and have different types of assignments ex: Combat Duty Assignments and Administrative Duty Assignments, as well as multiple categories under service records such as discharges, enlistment etc.

Will not only the above features mentioned but I'm hoping majority of the features with the invision version eventually become available with the standalone?

Yes, every feature that is in the invision package will also be available in the standalone package. We are still currently actively developing so many features haven’t been released yet - but short story, the standalone product will be at minimum what invision can do, but will be much more.

We will not be entering the forum world as that is not the mission of the software. There are several solutions out there that work just fine for forums. We may look into how we can integrate with them, but PERSCOM will never have forums in of itself. Hope that makes sense.

With the standalone software in the cloud, I have a few questions:

1) we just purchased the license for invision and paid for a month with them to test this out. It is really expensive. with this system, are we able to just link this to an external site outside of the invision platform? Like it would just be a link to the cloud services?

2) what about the data we have entered. We have spent hours creating things and having people sign up. how will that translate over?

3) the money that was paid for the license to have it put on Invision, is that the same, or can that go to the purchase of the cloud product?

thanks

1. I am not quite sure what you are asking. Can you rephrase?

2. We will make a way to transfer your data from PERSCOM with Invision to PERSCOM.io.

3. No these are two separate products with completely different billing systems. Most people will choose one or the other. There won’t be a reason you need both.
